One of the most significant problems with male fertility is Azoospermia, which means the lack of sperm cells in the semen. In this situation, the patient undergoes several normal sperm tests in which sperm cells are not detected at all.
The prevalence of this diagnosis within the male population is about 1%, and 10%-15% in patients suffering from male fertility problems.
In these cases, a special test can be performed at the Bartoov Center which is capable of locating sperm cells in a minute quantity, even when no cells were found in the normal test. This test is called sperm cell selection and it is done using a special enhanced magnification microscope.
Who is this test
recommended for?
In this test we concentrate the semen and scan the entire residue under a special light microscope with the enhanced magnification capabilities of X6000. The magnification allows for the search and detection with greater success. Under such magnification it is possible to see even the single cells which have a vibrating tail. These cells are alive and can be used in the Micromanipulation In-Vitro fertilization method.*
The combination of the proper preparation of the patient for the test, meticulous, long hours of observation over the semen under the microscope using enhanced magnification, allows us to find sperm cells in over 20% of cases even though and despite the fact that in the normal tests no such cells were found – and for this we are extremely proud.
